… and I was finishing off my oil of the house

I love seeing Cate’s pastel box – it’s art in itself – and her pictures are pretty good too

Dawn was also painting the day lily, in acrylic

We had a morning of painting outside – these are two of the successes. I personally found it quite frustrating as I was using acrylic on a small canvas and as it was drying so quickly, I could not get a good result. In fact, in a fit of frustration, I threw it across the courtyard which amused everyone.

I am struggling with this painting in oils of our house. It’s good to take photographs because it immediately points out the problems with tone and perspective. I need to change the door !

Jane did this beautiful water colour – there are poppies everywhere in the fields at the moment

Another week on and he is nearly finished

I extended his ears and I think he is finished now

Jeanette, Jennie and Brigitte were doing some crafts on tuesday morning

Maria had finished her wire tree sculpture with some copper wire. It’s not a very good photo but it looks stunning

Mary was continuing with her portrait – I can’t wait to see it finished

Jane was doing an exercise in tonal values by painting an old black and white photo

Jackie was revisiting a sketch from Saturday’s life class session by adding a bit of water colour

Patricia, prolific as ever, was doing two pictures

I love this by Dawn – inspired by Aine Divine

Again not a very good photo but the dragon is taking shape

… and I am continuing with the hare

Jackie says she doesn’t like using acrylics but at the end of the morning I think she was coming round to enjoying them – you can’t tell but there is a lot of texture

Vases with flowers

This morning we decided to paint flowers in vases using large canvases and big brushes.

This was Dawn’s first attempt at oils

In the afternoon Mary came and finished this magnificent tree which is at “Site Corot” near St Junien

Maria showed me her Pinterest boards and I fell in love with this goat and just had to get it onto canvas

We had another very successful needle felting course at the beginning of this week.

I felt the need to paint a very large sheep – this could be the start of a series

Helen came and was finishing off this beautiful retro crochet baby blanket
